Your session is over ... now what?

Your session is done! But now what? The hard part is over for you but what if you still have questions! If there's something you're wondering about, you can fill out this form below and shoot me an email. (Or get in touch in whatever way we previously were speaking) Below I've answered some of the most frequently asked questions that I get post session.

FAQ

How long until my photos are done?

Coming in at number one most commonly asked questions I get is HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT?

My typical turnaround time is 3-4 weeks from the date of your session.
Weddings and elopement's may take longer.

Will you do a preview?

Typically yes. Usually within 7 days. I can send this privately or post it online. My default is to send it privately.

During prime months (October-December) I do not guarantee previews. Everyone needs their photos for Christmas gifts so in an attempt to get galleries out faster, I often forgo doing previews! (Sorry friends)

Can I share my previews online?

Absolutely! They'll have my logo on them, and it would be great if that didn't get cropped out. And a tag is always very much appreciated!

Is there somewhere I can leave you a review?

Absolutely. Reach out to me for the link!

How do you choose the photos?

I'll go through every photo I took and narrow it down to just the best of the best. Spoiler alert, I have a hard time doing this so galleries tend to include a lot of choices for you.

How do I see my photos?

Once your photos are done I'll send you a link to your gallery. I'll also provide you with a password that will allow you access to your gallery. You'll be able to view them on a phone, tablet or computer.

I'm into my gallery, now what?

See detailed instructions below.

Are you going to share my images online?

Only if you say I can. I try to double check with people before I post their images (especially new clients)

But please, if you have privacy concerns reach out to me at any point to let me know you want to keep your images private.

How will I know when my images are finished?

I will reach out to you via whatever contact method we were using previously. If you haven't heard from me, they aren't finished. I promise, as soon as they're done, I'm super excited to show them to you.

What if I want additional editing done?

All sessions come with my standard level of editing (removal of distractions, light skin softening, non permanent blemish/bruise removal, colour correction etc.)

If there is additional editing you need done your session comes with a complimentary 10 images of additional editing (flyaways, large object removal, clothing fixes etc) at no fee to you. After your 10, additional editing is $5 per image OR an hourly rate if $30/hr if there is more than 20 images beyond your complimentary 10)

Please note: Most clients are completely satisfied with my standard editing and don't need additional editing at all.

What am I allowed to do with my photos (personal)

For personal sessions you are free to share them online with your friends and family, print them and display them in your home. Change your phone background, desktop background etc. Anything you'd do with them on a personal level.

What am I NOT allowed to do with my finished photos (personal)

Photos for personal use (family, newborn, maternity etc.) are not to be edited in any way (beyond basic cropping for printing/framing) They cannot be used online or in print for the purpose of advertising yourself for profit.

What am I allowed to do with my photos (Business)

Your commercial license allows the use of images online and in print for the purposes of advertising, selling products or services, for profit or benefit. Use them on your website and all social media accounts.

What am I NOT allowed to do with my photos (Business)

You are not able to edit the final images beyond whats needed for advertising (placing on a transparent background, adding to other media, etc)

What if i Want more images than my package comes with?

If you can't leave some behind beyond what your package comes with, you can absolutely purchase additional images. They're $15 each plus tax OR you can purchase your entire gallery for $150 plus tax ( This doesn't mean every image I took, just all the images in your online gallery)

Exceptions to this purchasing structure are wedding galleries which can sometimes be a lot more so the pricing is different.

When do I make editing requests?

If you have any specific editing requests, be sure to let me know before your gallery is sent out!

Do I get the Raws from my gallery?

You will only receive the best edited images from your gallery. Raw files/unedited files stay with me and you get the good stuff!

Does my package come with prints?

No. But if you'd like me to handle your printing I can absolutely do that. If you let me know what you need I can get you a quote. Otherwise once your selections have been made and your gallery sent, you can do all the printing you'd like!

Where should I print my images?

Short answer: Anywhere.

Long answer: some labs are better than others in terms of print quality, colour management, photo paper types, etc. I can make some great recommendations, or just handle the printing through an online pro lab. (Extra cost)

Can I get a USB of my images?

Absolutely! I have branded USB's I can load your images onto for $50 (plus tax) or if you purchase your entire gallery you can get the USB for $20 plus tax

(Alternatively, you can provide me with a USB and I can put the images on there at no charge to you!)

What do I do after my previews get sent?

First of all, I hope you love your previews! Second of all, now is when you wait. Your finished gallery should take a max of 4 weeks. And I'll be in touch when it's done!

Choosing your images

Once you have your link, you can use that link and the provided password (which is case sensitive) to access your private gallery. You can view your images from a computer, tablet or phone. Viewing them on the computer will be your best option for seeing them in their full glory. You'll notice that your gallery has a watermark over the image. This is a necessary (but unfortunate) tool to prevent theft of copyrighted images. Once you've chosen (and paid for if you haven't already) your images, the photos you receive will NOT have a watermark. On a computer you can generally see your images better, as some phones will not let you zoom in to see faces more clearly.

When you're ready to start choosing your images, you can click the heart on the ones you want. The first time you click a heart, you will be prompted for your email, use an email that you want your images to be sent to once you've made your selections. By pressing the heart, it will put the images in your favourites folder. If you click the heart again, it will remove the image from your favourites. You can see your favourites folder, you can get to that folder by pressing the heart under the main header image (pictured below) and that will show you JUST the images you have in your favourites folder. The will choose your images that come with your package by putting them in your favourites folder. This is a gallery that I can see on my end as well. So once you have your final choices in that folder just shoot me a message!

(If you'd like to upgrade to the full gallery you don't need to put them in your favourites - just reach out to discuss this. The cost is $150 plus HST)

Once you've chosen your final images, let me know! I typically will reach out within a week of sending your gallery out, but I try not to pressure you to make your choices so if you've finalized your favourites list reach out to tell me so I can get them sent out. This is a great time to double check you've spelled your email correctly. If there's no remaining balance on your package/images you'll get an email once I check your choices. I will always try to send a confirmation that I've sent them out to you. You'll get an email with your images and depending on whether your selected favourites or purchased the whole gallery will determine the kind of email you get. See below for detailed instructions on how to download your images.

Please note that you can download your images to your phone as well as a computer. I would absolutely recommend doing both!

Downloading Your Favourites List

When you've selected your favourites, the download process is really simple. Once you get your email, click the link in the email to download your images.

Things to note:

  1. Your download link will expire in 7 days. If it expires shoot me a message so I can send another one.
  2. You will only be downloading the high resolution files. If you need the web resolution files for online use, please let me know and I'll send that link as well. High res images are what are best for printing.
  3. Depending on the amount of images you get with your package, your download may take much longer than in the video.
  4. Pay attention to where your images download to on your computer. Typically they'll go to a downloads folder on a MAC. On a PC you'll be able to select the location. I find sending them to your desktop is the easiest way to retrieve them later.

Downloading a Full Gallery

The process for downloading a full gallery is different. You'll receive an email with a link to your gallery (the same one you viewed before, but this email will also have a download PIN. You'll log into your gallery as usual and press the download button below the main header image and enter in your email and then the download PIN. This will bring up a dialogue box prompting you to choose different resolutions and where you want to download them to.

Some things to note:

  1. The PIN does not expire, so you can download your images whenever you want.
  2. You'll still see the watermarked images in your gallery, the ones you download will NOT have a watermark on them.
  3. Use the email you want the images to go to when prompted to enter your email.
  4. You can choose between web resolution images and high res. You can do the download twice to have both resolution types. Web resolution is great for use online (social media, sharing via email, to have on your phone) and high res files are what you'll want for any printing you plan to do. I would suggest downloading both file types and labelling them separately, making sure never to print any web resolution files. If you don't want the hassle/confusion, high res files can still be used online, you just may find they take longer to send/upload.
  5. Take note of where the files download to. If you choose your desktop, be mindful of where they've gone. On a MAC they'll go to your downloads folder by default. On a PC you can choose where they go to, a desktop is a great choice so they're easy to find.
  6. Your download PIN is different than your gallery password. Make sure you're using the right one at the right time.

A Special Note for Branding/Business Sessions

I would always suggest to my business clients to download both the web quality and the high resolution files. The web quality images will be formatted for use on your website, social media, etc. These images load quickly on websites. Label them separately when downloading so you'll know which is which. Your booking would also come with the commercial licensing for your images which is different than use for personal photos. Images are able to be used for the purpose of advertising and profiting from the photos.

Safeguarding your investment

This is a fancy way of saying: Keep your images SAFE. I recommend putting the images on a USB (available for purchase - or use your own) or external hard drive in addition to saving them onto your computer or phone. Technology is not perfect, and while I try to keep all proofs I send out, my technology can fail just the same as your can. So the more copies of your photos you make, the more reassurance you have that you won't ever loose them.
